The creation of ‘PRINCESS’ the ‘Diana Bear’ came just 2-months after the death of the Princess of Wales on August 31, 1997. On October 29, 1997, TY Inc. began selling the Beanie Baby. The proceeds from each ‘PRINCESS’ The Bear were to go straight to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Retailers back in 1997 were told by TY Inc. that they could only purchase (12) bears at a time and by April 13th of 1999 the very last ‘PRINCESS’ The Bear was produced. The company Ty Inc. ended up donating an estimate $21,880,000 to Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. This RARE Collectible has become the most sought after Beanie Baby in history with this particular example being even more exclusive.
